Brennan Kelly’s body of personal work primarily focuses on cultural malaise, unexplained feelings of dread, paranoia and ruminations on contemporary society all with an introspective and self-deprecating eye. His subjects imperfections are exaggerated, skin takes on the texture of some unknown, saggy, leathery mass and insubstantial cloud entities often have faces. This catalogue of imagery has been carelessly cultivated from a childhood diet of cartoons, comics, role-playing games, plastic toys and poorly designed 8-bit video games.
Having recently completed his studies at the Alberta College of Art and Design Brennan is currently juggling work as a freelance illustrator and his personal art practice, trying not to let one deviate too far from the other.
